It was a busy day for the Silver Knights boys golf team as all 12 members of the squad saw tournament action today, with the varsity and one JV group at Boomerang and one JV group at Highland Hills in Greeley. The varsity competition at Boomerang doubled as a Longs Peak League event, and an invitational for teams who will compete in the class 3A, Region 3 tournament there next week. Varsity placed 6th out of 13 teams, and 5th out of the 10 conference teams in attendance with a score of 251, just 9 strokes behind first place finisher, Eaton. Individually, Austin Guerette led the way for Severance with a score of 80, good for 9th place out of 50 golfers. Carson Fagan fired an 84, placing 17th overall, while Brycen Farris rounded out the team score with an 87, good for 22nd place. A few tough holes derailed an otherwise solid round for Patrick Maxwell, who finished in 48th with a 106.

The JV team competing at Boomerang finished 1st out of 9 teams with a score of 281, outpacing Berthoud by one shot. Freshman Ryan Ewoniuk led the team to victory with a score of 86, and a 2nd place finish out of 37 golfers, just one stroke off the lead. Sophomore Ryder Atkinson tied for 3rd place with a 92, while fellow sophomore Brayden Mendoza rounded out the team score with a 103, good for 17th individually. Sophomore Ian Reynolds was close behind with a score of 107 and 22nd place finish.

Over at Highland Hills, the 36th Annual Greeley Central JV Invitational took place this morning, where the Silver Knights placed 6th out of 12 teams, with a score of 281. Sophomore Tyler Hansen posted an 85, good for 4th place out of 59 golfers. Sophomore Nolan Hertzke tied for 22nd with a score of 95, while freshman Nicolas Young placed 33rd with a score of 101. Freshman Tyler Young was just a few shots behind his brother with a score of 104, and tie for 34th place.

The varsity team will travel to Todd Creek Golf Course in Thornton on Thursday, September 17th to play in the final Longs Peak League event of the season, hosted by Riverdale Ridge. Next up for the JV squad is the Niwot Invitational on Tuesday, September 29th.
