Girls Junior Varsity Tennis, Girls Varsity Tennis · The day the whistle didn’t blow

Hello Silver Knights,

I have received some questions in regards to students getting together to practice. This is a rapidly changing situation and I would urge you all to follow the advice of health care providers and public officials.

I too am sad about the postponement of the season. I too am a parent watching my own children feel the disappointment of a sports season unfulfilled. I look around my house and see the soccer backpack, the swim bag, the Science Olympics project, and the prom dress hanging in the closet, all real reminders of what closures mean.

However, the way I see, we have two choices, we can be part of the problem or part of the solution. I would urge all of us to be part of the solution. I was truly amazed at what this team accomplished in a short time. We came together as a team, we learned a lot of tennis rules, and we learned to hit a tennis ball. We learned to lose and win with grace. We learned to follow rules when others did not. I could not be prouder of this team.

What can you do? You can listen and follow the advice of experts and your parents. Talk to your parents, call your grandparents, finish the puzzle, FINISH YOUR SCHOOL WORK, talk to your sibling(s), play a game with your sibling, walk the dog, clean your room, and rest.

As Silver Knights, we will rise above this as well. We will be stronger. We will play again. You will all remember this time, but let’s also remember what we did to help, not only ourselves, but our communities to stay safe and healthy.

Please stay safe and healthy!
