The Silver Knight boys varsity golf team put together a strong effort today at Riverview Golf Course in Sterling, despite the hot and windy conditions. Sophomore Carson Fagan continued his solid play, breaking 90 for the second straight week, which was good for an individual finish of 34th place. Sophomore Austin Guerette was just a few strokes behind, coming in 46th place in the large field of 79 players. Freshman Ryder Atkinson pieced together a solid round to finish at 57th to complete the team scoring, while freshmen Patrick Maxwell and Brycen Farris battled through the tough conditions to finish at 70th and 75th, respectively. The team placed 15th out of 17 teams, but gained tremendous experience on a unique layout in conditions that figure to be the norm heading into the home stretch of the season. The team will look to use a pseudo “home field advantage” next Tuesday, September 10th at the Weld County Championship played at Boomerang Links in Greeley before preparing for the conference finale and class 3A regional tournaments later this month.
